Fellowship CG on 15 Sep 2011

It's a Thursday, and we are not at Cheng Yan's house.

We are at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe @ Kovan
Ahem... fellowship is important and spiritual too. Somehow, the turn out seems to be better than a normal cgm.
Men's talk

Women's conference. Heard that there's great story tellers in our midst.

Thank you for your fellowship!

  1. Finding a Church in Singapore?

    Hi N116,
My name is James Tan (jamestan11111@hotmail.com)
    I am a Christian.

I have considered joining CHC but felt very uncomfortable during the few services I attended.

In particular, it seemed to me that the sermons evolved around giving money to the Church enabling the Holy spirit to work its power, and multiply a return to me. Somehow I find that this eliminates the selfless and sacrificial aspects of giving.

I am trying to work my way around this but could not find any reference in the NT that making sacrifices to support the work of God guarantees any kind of material wealth as a result.

Also, I was always taught that accumulation of wealth is wrong. The Bible list so many warnings.

"Let your character be free from the love of money, being content with what you have" . . . (Hebrews 13:5)

"For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith, and pierced themselves with many a pang" (1 Timothy 6:10)

The tenth commandment on covetousness has been imprinted in my brain.

I hope you understand that I also... - quoting Pastor Kong - "... do not want my faith to be hijacked"

I hope you can help a fellow Christian.

Can share with me, from your personal experiences as Christians, why CHC is the right church to join?

    Kindest Regards,
    James
